Beautiful Butterfly
Teardrop Arch, Monument Valley, Arizona
Avocet in non-breeding colors
Female Stilt
Cormorant and its catch
Red-tailed Hawk chick
I did not stay long at this nest, only enough time to take a few shots. The parents are very protective and they circled and cried overhead and I did not want to upset them more. Great Horned Owls don’t care if a photographer comes to see the nest, but the hawks do. For me, this was the first, to find this chick in a hawk nest, far out in the desert. I won’t go back, but it was a thrill to see this baby.
